The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking Engineering from Westwood College will provide students with the hands on experience as well as the theoretical knowledge to design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot various types of computer networking systems. This program will give students to work with a variety of software programs and applications that are used to develop and manage various types of networking applications. Emphasis will be on problem solving, working as part of a networking team, developing leadership skills as well as becoming a more effective communicator when working in multidisciplinary teams. Students will be encouraged to use a variety of examples from real world experiences with networking and computer systems.

Students in the program will learn about wireless networking, various computer applications involved in setting up small and large networks, working with LANs or local area networks as well as WANs or wide area networks. In addition to using just software applications used in networking there is also work with network switches, routers and bridges. Students gain experience in designing systems, adding to existing systems and troubleshooting installation and maintenance problems within systems. Students completing this degree can find work with small and large businesses in designing and managing computer network systems. Students will also experience working with network security, writing and setting networking profiles, and managing various types of wireless networks. Classes will also focus on programming languages and computer operating systems and how they work within various computer networks and networking applications.
