Systems Engineering involves the complex job of coordinating multiple, diverse systems within business, companies and organziations into one final smoothly operating master system. The Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Walden University allows students to expand their current knowledge of systems engineering to encompass more detailed and advanced types of system integration. The courses are designed to start with foundation information and build on this knowledge to more advanced levels. Each student will be encouraged to use information and examples from their own personal work experience in both assignments and projects. Students will engage in group discussions and interactions using various formats and networking opportunities. Faculty assistance and support is available through email, virtual office owners and through feedback on projects and assignments. Classes are kept very small so students have opportunity to contact instructors just as they would in a traditional lecture style format.
Students will be required to complete five core courses, four program elective courses and two general elective courses. The general elective courses can be any graduate level programs from any department including business or technology. The four program elective courses include topics such as total quality management, legal environment of business, global business, supply chain management, risk management, integrated design and manufacturing and finance and accounting. Students will be encouraged to choose electives that will help them in areas of personal interest and advancement within their career specialization.
